On December 6, the kindergarten and first grade students returned to school with parents in tow after dinnertime. It was a special hour of Advent crafting fun! Kindergarten teacher, Brooke Gonnering, and first grade teacher, Carole Clark, prepared a craft that would showcase this wonderful time of year! With popsicles, paint sticks, yarn, and a slew of glue, the families made an advent calendar. Advent calendars allow people to have a visual countdown in anticipation of Jesus’ birthday. This particular time-keeper begins with a star on top and the manger Jesus slept in at the bottom connected with a paint stick with numbers on it in between. Baby Jesus is on a clothespin clipping to a number each day while getting closer and closer to his birthday and manger. The families took creative license with the project putting their own spins on them to make them unique. Emilia Beaumier’s mom said, “It was so nice spending one on one time with [Emilia] doing what she loves best (crafts)!” The goal of the evening was for the students to have special parent time. According to Emilia’s mom, we accomplished our mission! article written by Mrs. Carole Clark, grade 1
