The week went so fast! On Monday we reviewed the Word of the Month: evangelize. We heard a great presentation from Mr. R and his fifth grade class. We learned that we are all called to help others get to know God by sharing His word with those around us and by welcoming them to our Church masses. All school families here at ABVM are encouraged to come to mass this Sunday at 10:30. Let’s fill those pews with our ABVM families, friends, and neighbors!
The student also took their very first MAPS tests this week. We talked about the importance of trying our best and taking our time. The students all did very well! Bravo third graders!!
In reading we read a story called The Trial of Cardigan Jones. While reading we worked on drawing conclusions and discussed why the neighbors might have thought that Cardigan was guilty. In writing we worked on quotations.
In math we had a little fun with a review game where each child was the teacher. They each came up to the board and wrote two math equations/questions on the board for the others to solve. They also worked on adding and subtracting in the hundreds.
In science, we had a creative stem challenge where I proposed the children this idea: You are a spider but your best friend is a bee. Design and build a contraption that will allow you to fly around with your bee friend. We had some imaginative creations – a helium balloon, parachute plane, and a sled/hover board contraptions. I included pictures of the students crafts.
In religion we read the story of Mary and Martha. We learned that sometimes we get caught up in all of the things we need to do each day or night like chores, homework, sports, etc. that we sometimes forget to think about what should come first in our lives which is God. We then talked about how important it is to have a relationship with God and the importance of praying to him, reading the Bible, and going to Church. Thank you so much to all of you who were able to come to Mass this Thursday and those who told Grandma and Grandpa to come. I know all of the kids were very excited to see them there 🙂
Our spelling words this week: lay, real, trail, sweet, today, dream, seem, tea, treat, afraid, leave, bait, screen, speed
Thanks for all you do!
