1st graders became engineers trying to solve the problem of supplies getting destroyed because parachutes fell too fast while delivering the supplies to people in need during natural disasters. We discussed different examples of nature (different seeds, animals with wings, etc) that could compare to things flying as well as man-made things (like other parachutes, airplanes, etc) to help us come up with our own ideas. We brainstormed, sketched designs and created models of the parachutes and attached our supplies (eggs) to their parachutes to see which would survive. Bailey and Jacob were our two success stories, as their eggs landed safely! Thanks to the 5th graders for their help with set up and clean up!
